Entrepreneur, inventor and philanthropist Annie Turnbo Malone turned her personally developed hair care products into a successful industry, including 32 beauty colleges that taught the unique Poro method. One of her students was the more famous Madam C.J. Walker. Turnbo not only encouraged women of color to feel good about themselves, she showed them a path to financial independence. Annie Turnbo Malone was an inspiring role model and an important part of women's history and Black history.
About the Author:
Eve Nadel Catarevas always loved to write, from her newsletter for the kids in her Connecticut neighborhood when she was eight, to her "Dear Prudence" advice-to-the-lovelorn column for her school newspaper. But it wasn't until she began writing about little-known historical figures that she found her sweet spot: discovering them, polishing them up, and sharing their achievements with others. Eve lives in Westport, Connecticut with two- and four-legged family members.
